Life changed forever for Carlos in 1984, when MTV arrived to his native Chile. He was 13 at the time, and ZZ Top's Rough Boy video inspired him start playing the acoustic guitar at his family home. He built his own electric guitar a couple of years later and eventually saved up enough to buy one.

By about age 17, Carlos and his buddies had formed a Latin rock band and had the opportunity to gain stage experience performing with an adult band they knew.

In those days, he was listening mostly to rock, such as Metallica and Bon Jovi. Over the years his musical influences expanded to include a variety of other genres, including classical and jazz. Essentially, Carlos enjoys all types of music. He has played guitar in a variety of styles, including classical, flamenco, R&B and rock.

Carlos made the move from Chile to Vancouver in 2006 for a change in lifestyle. He re-dedicated himself to his music a couple of years ago and joined an R&B cover band, playing gigs around the Lower Mainland with them for about a year and a half.

When asked what role music plays in his life, Carlos says: "I think a lot all the time, and music enables me not to think too much."
